Before you decided to adopt any type of animal you should do the research.  Especially if you have children.

It doesn’t matter what anyone has told you or that your dachshund growing up was wonderful with kids…not every dog likes kid and you should be extremely leery of rescue dogs.  Their are reasons these dogs are in rescue and despite our best efforts people lie.

” I have to move and can’t take the dog with me”

“My kids became allergic to this dog”

“I’m pregnant and I don’t think I can handle a baby and a dog”

“I’m getting divorced and neither of us want the dog”

We have heard every story their is to surrendering the dog except, it bit my kid because I didn’t teach my child to respect the dogs space.

Families with children under the age of 10yrs should not look to adopt or purchase a dachshund.  Dachshunds are fear biters and 9 times of of 10 go for the face.  They are notorious for having back problems and kids pick them up the wrong way or drop them well now you have a huge vet bill or have to decide if you can afford the back surgery.

So please, please, please do the research before you decide to adopt or purchase a pet, this is a life long commitment and you should find the right pet for your lifestyle.
